Chafa Ouzzani was born on May 9, 1967 in Algiers.  He is from Chemini in Kabylia.

From his childhood, Chafa Ouzzani was passionate about drawing and painting.

From this passion, a continuous artistic career will be born that he will lead in parallel with the exercise of his profession of architect in Béjaïa.

Student, Ouzzani will organize his first exhibition at the Institute of Architecture of the University of Blida.  First milestone towards prolific production and fair recognition.

His style evolves and asserts itself over the years, moving from simple reproductions, portraits, landscapes and other still lifes to a tormented semi-figurative style that he will develop over a decade.  Subsequently, by need, and to free himself from the limits of figuration, the artist will move towards an abstract and / or semi-abstract style dominated by a purely plastic expression, induced by strong compositions of shapes and colors.

Chafa’s work has evolved over the years to take on a maturity that is visible and recognizable at first glance.  The line is sure and the compositions of a captivating force.

The canvas becomes a support with indefinite limits.  The colored material, oil or acrylic, used at the whim of the moment becomes a vector of expression of all the emotions.

In his work, abstraction and figuration intermingle, intertwine, collide and come together to suggest a deliberate desire to move towards an aesthetic with multiple manifestations.

Ouzzani works his canvas like a blank space.  Divisions, ruptures, overlaps or assemblies are worked on in a perpetual concern for harmony and aesthetic balance.  The result often invokes a work of memory where identity is omnipresent.

To his credit, several individual and / or group exhibitions in Algeria and abroad (France, Italy, Spain, Turky, Serbia, Tunisia, India ) … which have earned him praising criticism in the press and television media.  He has also participated in numerous international symposia and festivals.
